11 clubs on banned list…imbalance bigger than debt – Saudi News

– To be frank, there are still obvious deficiencies in the governance implementation system in Saudi Arabian clubs. Otherwise, what is the explanation for the inclusion of 11 Saudi clubs on the banned list due to a lawsuit filed with the International Federation of Nations (FIFA)? The reason is that coaches and players do not receive financial dues. How many players and coaches have filed complaints against Saudi clubs? How do you explain that the debts and rights of some clubs’ coaches amount to more than 60 million riyals?

– “Uhud” club is the closest example. The club was damaged by a management team that was out of touch with the governance system, sending the club into a maze of debt and even causing a sporting disaster that saw it decline to levels far beyond anything imagined. Is it reasonable for a club of the size of the “Hero” club, and one with a difficult basketball record, to be relegated to Division 1 (Basketball)? Is it possible for a soccer team that was close to promotion from Division 1 to be promoted to a regional league? Who is responsible for these sports disasters? Why did Uhud sink like this and find itself in such a difficult situation that it will take many years to rebuild and restore it to its original condition?

– Yes, there is a flaw insofar as the complaint reaches the international federation and 11 clubs are suspended. The club will have a strict financial oversight committee. Club presidents should not act as exclusive managers, do whatever they want, and set salaries based on their personal feelings as if the club were their personal property.

– It is true that some club presidents lack an understanding of the concept of governance. How do you account for this number of international complaints, let alone domestic complaints that we are not aware of? It is therefore important that the Ministry of Sports restructures its governance system, otherwise the issue will be left unaddressed. Some players receive astronomical sums without any significant additional money. This will require reconsidering the structure of contracts for professional and local players, reinvigorating the role of committees and financial oversight, setting criteria for athlete eligibility to ensure appropriate contracts, and closing the door to the “black market” and sports brokers who are the biggest beneficiaries of the Saudi market.

– It is very necessary to implement the decision requiring club presidents to hand over ‘zero’ debt to clubs at the end of their term. The root of the problem is that club presidents are not held accountable for the disasters they cause. Have you ever heard of a club president who was obligated to repay a debt he had caused?

– Save the club from people who seek chairmanship and fame and make the club a victim of personal interests and don’t care about the disasters the club causes. There are many examples that are familiar to those who follow the sports scene. I wish the Ministry of Sports would issue a press release explaining why these debts were accumulated and why the perpetrators were not held accountable, rather than letting clubs suffer as a result of these administrative disasters.

My favorite shouts and phrases:

“If I spoke, it would cause a lot of disagreement.”

(Let’s keep quiet)

You’re right, I swear.

“Not all that is known has been spoken and proclaimed.” A person goes to the grave with many secrets known only to Almighty God.

– To be frank, there are still obvious flaws in the governance application system for clubs in Saudi Arabia. Otherwise, what is the explanation for the inclusion of 11 Saudi clubs on the banned list for filing a lawsuit with FIFA? The reason is that coaches and players do not receive economic rights. How many players and coaches have filed complaints against Saudi clubs? And how do you explain that the debts and rights of coaches of some clubs amount to more than 60 million riyals?

– Al Ahly Club is the closest example. The club suffered from management that was far removed from its governance system, plunged the club into a maze of debt, and even caused a sporting disaster that saw it relegated to an unimaginable level. Is it conceivable that a club of the size of Al Ahly, the “champions” and mainstays of the basketball world, would be relegated to the First Division? Is it conceivable for a football team to remain in the regional league after coming close to promotion from the First Division? Who is responsible for these sporting disasters? And why was Al Ahly so submerged and in such a difficult situation that it would take years to rebuild and return to its former state?

– Yes, the defect exists as long as a complaint has been made to FIFA and 11 clubs have been suspended. Clubs should have strict financial oversight committees. The club president is the sole decision maker and should not do as he pleases and determine salaries according to his personal whims as if the club were his private property.

– It is true that some club presidents lack understanding of governance concepts. How do you account for this volume of international complaints, let alone an unknown number of domestic complaints? It is therefore important that the Ministry of Sports restructures its governance structure or it will go unchecked. Some players receive astronomical sums without making a significant contribution, and this requires a re-evaluation of contract mechanisms for professional and local players, reinvigorating the role of committees and financial oversight, and setting criteria for player eligibility to ensure proper contract formation, while closing the door to the “black market” and sports brokers who are the biggest beneficiaries of the Saudi market.

– It is very important to implement the decision requiring the club president to hand over the club to ‘zero’ debt at the end of his term. Leaving club presidents unaccounted for for disasters they cause is the root of the problem. Have you ever heard of club presidents being asked to pay for debts they have caused?

– Save the club from those who seek chairs and fame, make it a victim of personal interests, and are indifferent to the disaster it leaves behind. Many examples are known to those who closely follow the sports scene. I would like the Ministry of Sports to issue a press statement clarifying why the debts were accumulated and why those responsible are not held accountable, rather than burdening clubs with these administrative disasters.

Indeed, you are right..
