Top officials in southern Yemen held an expanded meeting in Riyadh on Saturday as part of efforts to build trust and unite the southern ranks, paving the way for national partnership and shared responsibility to confront current challenges.

Prime Minister Shia Mohsen Al-Zandani, Chairman of the Shura Council Ahmed Obaid bin Dargul, Presidential Leadership Council member Abdulrahman Al-Mahrami, Governor of Hadramout Salem Al-Kambasi, several ministers, the Governor of South Yemen, members of the Shura Council and Parliament, and military and political leaders attended the meeting.

According to state media reports, the discussion focused on the development of the southern states and the upcoming political, security and service needs.

Participants in the rally said that southern unity is essential to protect the security and stability of the southern states and maintain the current relative calm.

They emphasized the need for partnerships to address regional and national challenges. Both leaders emphasized the importance of dialogue, moving away from policies that intensify conflicts and strengthen divisions, to resolve conflicts.

Furthermore, those gathered underlined their full support to the PLC and the Prime Minister in their efforts to form a new government, which will need to address a wide range of economic and service issues.

They stressed the need to support local authorities and security agencies in the south in carrying out their mandates, as they are the first line of defense for security and stability. Enabling them to fulfill their role will restore public trust in state institutions.

The two leaders expressed full support for the Saudi-sponsored intra-southern dialogue, saying it was the best path to addressing the fundamental issues of the southern problem.
