Egyptian film director Mohamed Sami has commented for the first time on his dispute with Egyptian artist Afaf Shuaib after the Cairo Economic Court yesterday dismissed a compensation suit brought against him for insult and defamation on social media sites.
All cases ended in his favor
Sami confirmed through his Facebook account that all the lawsuits filed against artist Afaf Shuaib over the past two years ended in his favor.
Clarification of suspicion
He explained that he did not understand why Shuaib persisted in filing a lawsuit without any legal basis, stressing that the claim that Shuaib abused him during the TV show was not true and that the court ruled completely in Shuaib’s favor.
controversial episode
Sami pointed out that the episode in which Shuaib claimed to have deserted him was available for viewing “online” and stressed that he could never commit a crime against an older woman and that he respects the great artist and her artistic history.
his future options
Sami explained that he is discussing next steps with his legal advisors, including taking legal action to compensate for defamation and leniency, and possibly moving forward amicably.
Details of the incident
The details of the incident date back to when artist Afaf Shuaib accused director Mohamed Sami of insulting and defaming him during an appearance on a TV show, which led to her filing a lawsuit alleging that he had insulted her in public.
