The industrial production index recorded an impressive annual growth of 8.9%, strongly indicating that the economic momentum is accelerating and the production chain is recovering, driven by the improved performance of the mining and quarrying sector, as well as manufacturing, water supply, sanitation and waste management activities.
According to preliminary results for December 2025 published by the General Directorate of Industrial Production Statistics, mining and quarrying activities achieved an annual increase of 13.2%, confirming their vital role as the main driver of industrial growth. The manufacturing index also rose by 3.2%, directly reflecting capacity expansion and improved demand, while water supply, sanitation and waste management activities recorded a strong growth of 9.4%, reflecting increased investment in infrastructure and basic services. In contrast, the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply index decreased by 2.5% year-on-year.
At the main economic activity level, the data shows a 10.1% increase in the oil activity index, parallel to a 5.8% increase in non-oil activity, clearly demonstrating the diversification of growth sources and the balance of the economic structure.
The Industrial Production Index is an important tool for measuring changes in production, as it is based on data from field surveys carried out on a sample of industrial establishments in different activities, classified according to the National Economic Activities Classification (ISIC4), and its results are published monthly according to approved statistical methods that accurately and transparently reflect the economic reality.
