Beacon Offshore Energy’s Shenandoah oil field has achieved the milestone of reaching 100,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd) within 75 days of commissioning, exceeding regional start-up benchmarks and establishing a new performance standard for deepwater operations.
Located off the coast of Louisiana, Shenandoah presents extremely difficult operational challenges due to high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) reservoir conditions exceeding 22,000 psi, temperatures approaching 200 °F, and water depths approaching 6,000 feet (1,800 meters).
The field’s rapid expansion is testament to decades of innovation in extreme offshore environments and collaborative engineering.
Key to this success has been the advanced chemical management provided by Clariant Oil Services, which ensures guaranteed flow rates, corrosion protection, scale prevention and production optimization.
The advanced solution, including the ADAPT measurement system, continuously monitored the performance of the asphaltene inhibitors while the corrosion and scale inhibitors protected the subsea infrastructure under harsh conditions.
Production optimization tools such as emulsion breakers and defoamers have improved separation and processing efficiency.

This integrated approach, which combines chemical processing, wellbore engineering, and floating production systems, enables multiple wells to produce more than 20,000 bopd and access reservoirs more than 30,000 feet (9,000 meters) deep.
