Saudi Arabia’s Yemen Development and Rehabilitation Program (SDRPY) has launched a new phase of the Al Abul road expansion and rehabilitation project in Marib governorate, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Tuesday.
The new phase spans 40 kilometers while the previous two phases totaled 90 kilometers. The project aims to promote safe travel on this important road, improve infrastructure efficiency and facilitate mobility and commercial activity.
Al Abul Road is a strategic route and international link between Saudi Arabia and Yemen. It also connects cities and governorates in Yemen.
SDRPY’s transport sector projects and initiatives focus on the rehabilitation of approximately 200 kilometers of roads across different provinces and the renovation of airports to improve transport infrastructure readiness.
This includes rehabilitating land ports, connecting Yemen with the region and the world, and promoting economic and commercial movement.
SDRPY implements 268 projects and initiatives across Yemen, supporting eight key areas: education, health, transport, energy, water, agriculture, fisheries, development programs, and government capacity building and support.
