Thumbay Group has announced the opening of Thumbay Medicity Dubai, a new major academic medical destination in Al Qusais, Dubai.
Designed as a “city within a city,” Tumbay Medicity Dubai is the group’s next strategic milestone in building a globally relevant healthcare ecosystem, the group said.
The campus integrates a complete healthcare support network, including a branch of Gulf Medical University, Tunbay University Hospital in Dubai, advanced research facilities, simulation and skills centres, laboratories, pharmacy, wellness systems and hospitality spaces.
The medical destination is expected to accommodate 3,000 students, 1,000 employment opportunities and a mobile population of 6,000. The city offers students the benefit of learning in a real-world clinical environment and provides patients with access to care directly supported by education and research.
Dr. Thumbay Moideen, Founder President of Thumbay Group, said, “Thumbay Medicity Dubai is more than just an expansion. This is the next chapter of a dream that began with one clear belief: that education, medicine and research must grow together. We are very aligned with our vision for Dubai, which now has an integrated academic medical city built to shape future professionals, improve patient care and foster new discoveries. Our vision has always been global, yet deeply human.
The education zone will be home to Gulf Medical University’s Dubai campus, which will include the Thumbay University of AI Management in Healthcare, an advanced simulation lab, a surgical skills centre, an international foundation stream, an AI-driven learning environment and a professional college.
Gulf Medical University President Professor Manda Venkatramana added, “This campus provides students with access to a second, well-equipped academic hub in one of the world’s most dynamic cities. It reflects our commitment to modern education, global exposure, and developing the next generation of medical leaders.”
The Healthcare Zone will be based around Dubai’s Thumbay University Hospital and will expand into a comprehensive multi-specialty academic hospital, starting with phase one offering renal dialysis, cardiology, orthopedics and rehabilitation services.
Akbar Moideen Thumbay, Vice President of Healthcare at Thumbay Group, said: “Dubai will be a key hub for our healthcare system. With hospitals, laboratories, pharmacies and medical tourism programs integrated into one destination, our focus on accessible and compassionate care backed by academic excellence remains clear.”
Strategically located on the Dubai-Sharjah border in Al Qusais, Tumbay Medicity offers direct access to major population centres, international travel connections and a vibrant student and healthcare ecosystem. With this launch, Thumbay Group strengthens its position as one of the region’s most comprehensive academic medical networks, building not only educational institutions but also environments where learning heals, research advances treatments, and communities grow.
