The Ministry of Local Government and the Water Board decided to pursue those responsible for the flow of water outside the property boundaries, considering this to be a visual distortion and manifestation of local government violations that required immediate action. The regulations confirm that if a road is flooded or a puddle occurs due to the current, a fine of up to 3,000 riyals will be imposed, and violators are obligated to promptly remove the violation and address the cause.
Meanwhile, the system confirms in Article 57 that water authorities are responsible for dealing with cases of spills, leaks and damage to water and sewage networks and punishing violators, while local governments are responsible for following up on cases of flooding of roads and water bodies, integrating the two to reduce damage to the environment and the city, and dealing with water outages as well as the manifestation of visual distortions caused by the flow of water from networks and tanks outside the boundaries of real estate or internally. or drainage network.
The Water Authority has so far conducted a series of site visits in Saudi Arabia’s cities and regions to monitor code violations in water systems, and has monitored more than 1,500 violations, with irregular connection violations accounting for approximately 33% of the total violations recorded. Violations detected so far include irregular connections to the water and sewerage network, tampering with meters of licensed service providers, and leakage of water outside the boundaries of public or private buildings or from tanks.
