Reports have revealed the most likely candidate to succeed Liverpool’s Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, after news broke that Saudi club Al Ittihad are in contract talks with him during next summer’s transfer window.
According to Britain’s Daily Express, Liverpool are planning to sign a strong deal for Salah in the summer Mercato if he moves to Al Ittihad, as Salah has become more open to a move than before following reports that negotiations have begun between Al Ittihad and the player’s agent.
If Salah leaves, who will replace him?
According to the report, Leipzig winger Yann Diomande is one of the most high-profile players proposed to replace Salah’s potential departure, with his price estimated at around £87 million, but Liverpool will face stiff competition from Manchester United and Arsenal for his signature.
Paris Saint-Germain’s Frenchman Bradley Barcola is also thought to be one of the candidates to replace Salah and could ease a move to the Reds, especially considering he has not featured regularly for the team.
As for Brazilian Rafinha, it remains an option, but it will not be easy to complete a deal with Barcelona, given the Catalan club’s commitment to his contribution. However, if he receives an attractive financial offer, financial pressure could cause Barcelona to consider letting him go.
The report also claims that Bayern Munich star Michael Olise is a suitable candidate to replace Salah, although the player’s contract still runs until 2029, meaning the club’s management are under no financial pressure to sell him.
