MODEE launches Jordan’s first integrated business hub platform with US government funding

AMMAN — Under the auspices of the Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship and represented by the Executive Director for Digital Transformation, Informal Livelihoods Advancement Action (Iqlaa) Sinan Kamal, with funding from the US government, has launched Jordan’s first “fully integrated” business hub digital platform aimed at supporting and developing entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized enterprises.

Sinan Kamal emphasized that the launch of the platform is a milestone in Jordan’s digital transformation journey and is in line with the government’s vision to provide a modern digital business environment that enables entrepreneurs and business owners to access a “broader” market, expand their businesses, and increase the competitiveness of the national economy within an integrated digital ecosystem.

The initiative began with the establishment of six physical hubs in Amman (Marka), Al Salt, Jerash, Zarqa, Al Karak, and Aqaba and expanded to a total of 15 hubs across the country dedicated to supporting the growth and development of the country’s micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSEs), according to a statement from the U.S. Embassy.

To date, more than 1,300 MSEs have benefited from these hubs, gaining access to an integrated environment that fosters business collaboration and stimulates local economies. We do this by combining expertise, advisory services and well-equipped workspaces to drive business growth and sustainability.

The new digital platform will act as a bridge connecting companies directly to the market system, enabling them to compete and grow at local and regional levels, and supporting their expansion through innovative integrated digital solutions.

Funded through the U.S. government, the Informal Livelihood Advancement Activity (Iqlaa) is a five-year program launched in May 2022 that aims to help Jordan’s home-based businesses (HBBs) and MSEs grow, transform, and withstand future challenges.

The program’s approach aims to explore new ways of doing business and improve access to finance, markets and services.

It focuses on four sectors: agriculture, tourism and hospitality, and manufacturing and services, with a particular focus on technology development and implementation. The program encourages and supports the participation of all MSE owners, the statement said.
