Dubai: Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and Dubai Health Authority, represented by Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote the Emiratization of the healthcare workforce by supporting Emirati students enrolling in MBRU’s bachelor’s and master’s degree programs across a variety of medical specialties.

This MoU marks an important step forward in our shared commitment to developing the nation’s health workforce. The signing ceremony was witnessed by His Excellency Dr. Alawi Al-Sheikh Ali, Director-General of Dubai Health Authority, and Dr. Ameer Sharif, CEO of Dubai Health and President of MBRU.

Under the agreement, Dubai Health Authority will cover the tuition fees of a large number of Emirati students enrolled in bachelor’s and master’s degree programs across various medical specialties at Dubai Health’s learning and discovery arm, Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU), including programs offered by Hind Bint Maktoum College of Nursing and Midwifery.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Asma Al Sharif, Acting CEO of Health Regulation at DHA, and Dr. Hanan Al Suwaidi, Deputy CEO and Chief Academic Officer of Dubai Health and Rector of MBRU, during World Health Expo Dubai 2026.

Dr. Asma Al Sharif said: “This MoU provides a major impetus to our common efforts to promote the Emiratization of the healthcare workforce and provide the healthcare sector with highly qualified national talent capable of achieving the strategic goals of Dubai’s healthcare system.”

Dr. Hanan Al Suwaidi said, “This MoU reflects our commitment, in collaboration with Dubai Health Authority, to develop a highly qualified national medical workforce who will lead the future of Dubai’s healthcare sector. By empowering UAE students academically and professionally in key specializations, including nursing, we will strengthen the integration of the academic healthcare system.”

She added: “This program will support students of MBRU’s Hind Bint Maktoum College of Nursing and Midwifery, as well as those enrolled in medicine and surgery programs, strengthening important medical career pathways.”
