JEDDAH — Saudi Arabian Railways (SAR) has completed operational preparations for the holy month of Ramadan in 1447 AH and has developed a comprehensive plan for the Haramain high-speed railway aimed at increasing transport capacity and the number of daily services. This is to facilitate the movement of worshipers between Mecca and Madinah and ensure smooth movement throughout the holy month.
SAR said this season’s service plan includes more than 3,662 flights, offering more than 1.7 million seats to meet the growing demand for travel between the two holy destinations. It operates over 100 times a day, demonstrating a high level of operational readiness and flexible scheduling to accommodate prayer times and the movement of Umrah performers and visitors.
Haramain High Speed Rail is one of the world’s fastest passenger trains, operating at speeds of up to 300 kilometers per hour. A 453-kilometer rail line will connect Makkah and Madinah via Jeddah and King Abdullah Economic City, strengthening the integration of transport systems and improving the travel experience in terms of speed, comfort and reliability.
