Oman Air, Oman’s national carrier, has announced the expansion of its international network with the launch of a new weekly direct flight to the Russian city of Sochi.

The flight is scheduled to begin on July 2, 2026, and will operate year-round, offering travelers easy access to Russia’s premier leisure destination overlooking the Black Sea.

The opening of this new route strengthens Oman Air’s ever-expanding network to Russia in response to the growing demand from Russian travelers wishing to visit Oman.

Oman Air currently operates direct flights between Moscow and Muscat with a frequency of up to 11 times a week, as well as charter flights between Moscow and Salalah, which launched in December 2025.

This comes in parallel to the company’s continued expansion of its destination network, the opening of several new routes over the past few months, and the company’s success in increasing the movement of passengers arriving directly into Oman.

Oman Air remains committed to strengthening Oman’s position as a leading destination, contributing to the promotion of tourism receipts and supporting related sectors.

Oman Air CEO Kon Korfiatis said the airline is carefully considering strategic opportunities to connect Oman with new destinations and is developing its network.

He said the launch of the Sochi route comes in response to growing demand between Oman and Russia and strengthens the airline’s position as a leading airline offering outstanding travel experiences across prominent tourism and business markets.

He added that the new route, which will operate weekly throughout the year, will support the growth of inbound tourism to Oman and contribute to the revitalization of related sectors, in addition to strengthening trade and investment exchanges between the two countries.

This is particularly important as Russia is considered one of the promising markets for tourism to Oman and improved air connectivity will facilitate the flow of visitors and strengthen economic ties between the two countries.

Muscat-Sochi flights are operated using Boeing 737-8 aircraft, offering a superior travel experience with integrated comfort and onboard services.
