I still get surprise every time I rely on a previous time scale to measure a variable, but it becomes clear that instantaneous invariance no longer exists. The world turns upside down every second, variables compete, and relying on old measurements skews measurements. Yes, I previously wrote an article titled (Movement There) in which I pointed out that although we live in times so fast that we can no longer measure by the old standards for determining how fast or slow a society is, movement is still the master of measurement.
Movement is one of the most important elements of life. Society constitutes the diversity of humans affected by its movements. A fixed society cannot reconcile with new data. For immutability is stillness, and in its constant movement no part of it can be fixed or lag behind the general movement. All the members of those societies acquire the same movement of life, and are therefore in harmony with the speed which must be produced to form the variables which drive progress. And delay or inaction in any society negatively affects its existence in a mobile society.
The dialectic of fixed and mobile came to mind when an Arab cultural official spoke at length about the cultural constants he considered fundamental to the decision-making of the institution he led, constants that could not be separated from one iota and that transcended time and reality with new life and cultural data that made a mockery of those constants.
Time changes that constant. These old constants may remain preserved in books and memory, but the speed of change erases many of them. Therefore, Ali bin Abi Talib’s maxim is true (raise your children in a period other than your own). This proverb is not the original text, but rather its meaning.
Those who were not raised in times that their fathers and grandfathers did not experience will now be lost.
I believe that the movement of time does nothing to keep all aspects of life constant. Because all the components of life move at the same time. The constant means death to those who cling to it, and those who want to go with the movement of life must renew the constant. Every era has constants that can change in proportion to the dynamics of reality. The new data changes the origin of all constants. Nothing remains the same for hundreds or even decades. Rather, there is a movement against any trend that is consistent with that reality, and this does not mean alienation or intimidation, but that the essence of what you believe in has a renewable energy that can survive and grow across all temporal formations.
Unless a cultural or religious identity can change over time, it will fade into the background, no matter how much we claim that these constants are compatible with the continuous changes brought about by the movement of life.
Anyone who knows about Saudi Arabia’s extraordinary dynamism will realize that the country has achieved vast growth in all areas, in contrast to previous years. The sovereign decision taken by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman led to a departure from a firm stance towards an effective and escalating movement. Because all success leads to success. We are moving forward with proactive actions, aiming to achieve the future with the best results.
