Abu Dhabi: AD Ports Group today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BUA Group, one of Africa’s largest food, mining, manufacturing and industrial conglomerates, and MAIR Group (ADX: MAIR), a strategic investment company focused on food retail and commercial real estate in the UAE, to explore the development of integrated sugar mills and edible oil facilities in Abu Dhabi and selected international markets.

The partnership aims to build a world-class food manufacturing and processing ecosystem, with the goal of establishing the region’s largest agricultural hub serving both local and global demand. This initiative, in line with the UAE National Food Security Strategy 2051, will support economic diversification, stimulate industrial growth and strengthen the UAE’s position as a global center for agricultural trade and distribution.

The MoU covers Abu Dhabi’s Khalifa Port and potential projects in Africa and Latin America, leveraging Khalifa Port’s advanced infrastructure and intermodal connectivity to drive the expansion of AD Ports Group’s global presence in the agro-industrial sector, with the group already developing agricultural bulk handling and storage infrastructure with partners in Pakistan and Kazakhstan.

The MoU will also assess opportunities in grains, pulses, animal feed, agricultural products, and related shipping, logistics, ports and distribution solutions.

Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group, said: “This MoU expands AD Ports Group’s role across the strategic agro-processing value chain and will help ensure UAE national food security in 2051. “By combining our integrated end-to-end trade and logistics capabilities with BUA Group’s agro-industry expertise and MAIR Group’s strategic focus on the food sector, we will explore opportunities to strengthen our food supply.” In line with the vision of our wise leadership, we will build chains, promote industrial value creation and deepen trade ties between Africa and the UAE. ”

Abdul Samad Rabiu, Founder and Chairman of BUA Group, said: “This strategic partnership is a major milestone in BUA’s international expansion and reflects our long-term vision to build a globally competitive industrial platform. As one of several conglomerates, we are proud to collaborate with AD Port Group and MAIR Group in support of the UAE’s National Food Security Strategy 2051. Together, we aim to build a future-ready food processing ecosystem.” Intercontinental trade strengthens supply chain resilience and provides sustainable economic value for future generations. ”

Nehayan Hamad Alameri, Managing Director and Group CEO of MAIR Group, said: “This partnership brings together complementary strengths across investment, industrial development and logistics. “Our focus on agricultural and food infrastructure positions us to support the integration of the agricultural and food industries. By exploring opportunities in refined sugar, edible oils and broader food processing, we are contributing to a more integrated and resilient food ecosystem that supports national and regional food.” Security. ”
