Ambassador Abdulaziz Alwaser, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations, attended the Security Council Ministerial Meeting on the situation in the Middle East.
During the session, Dr. Al-Wasel delivered the Saudi address, affirming Saudi Arabia’s firm position in support of the rights of the Palestinian people.
He explained that the occupation authorities’ decision to convert land in the West Bank into so-called “state land” is a serious violation of international law and undermines efforts to bring peace, and reiterated that Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories.
He also emphasized the right of the Palestinian people to establish an independent state within the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on international legitimacy resolutions, including resolution 2334.
He stressed the importance of ensuring unimpeded access to humanitarian assistance, calling for humanitarian organizations to be protected and enabled to carry out their missions in accordance with international humanitarian law, especially as the holy month of Ramadan approaches.
He noted Saudi Arabia’s constructive participation in the Peace Council meeting held on February 19, 2026, praised international efforts aimed at ending the war in the Gaza Strip, and stressed the need to maintain the unity of the West Bank and Gaza Strip, rejecting all attempts to divide the Palestinian territory.
