Vice Governor of Makkah inspects the Grand Mosque’s preparations for Ramadan

Prince Saud bin Mishal bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Makkah Region, inspected the preparations of the Grand Mosque and its facilities, conducting a field visit to review operational and service preparations to receive worshipers and Umrah performers during the holy month of Ramadan, Saudi Press Agency reported on Tuesday.

Prince Saud was briefed on the operational plans implemented by the relevant authorities, including crowd control mechanisms, service enhancements and facility preparations aimed at ensuring smooth movement of Grand Mosque visitors and increasing the level of comfort and safety, especially during peak hours.

He reviewed the development initiatives and smart services that support the operational system, in particular the electric mobility carts for transporting the elderly, disabled and people with special needs within the Grand Mosque.

The tour also included an overview of the efforts of the leadership team, who are stationed in the corridors and courtyards of the Grand Mosque and provide multilingual assistance and instruction.

Prince Saud reviewed interactive maps and digital mobility platforms. This allows visitors to plan their route in advance and identify service locations, entrances and exits, and less crowded passageways.

He was briefed on crowd management systems, including a visitor density sensor platform that measures the density of people in real-time, and a Tawaf and Sai crowd display service that allows worshipers to easily choose the right time to perform their rituals. Models for modern multilingual guidance systems were also considered.

Prince Saud also visited the Smart Engineering Command and Control Center. The center will serve as an advanced central platform to link operational systems and monitor performance in real-time, increasing operational efficiency and improving readiness levels during Ramadan.
