Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi expressed his rejection and condemnation of the irresponsible and unacceptable statements made by the US ambassador to the Israeli occupation government.
The statement included acceptance of occupation forces’ control over lands belonging to Arab countries, including the occupied West Bank.
The Secretary-General stressed that this statement is a clear violation of international law and the United Nations Charter, which affirms the sovereignty of States and the unity and full sovereignty of their territories, SPA reported.
He noted that these unprecedented statements are inconsistent with the direction of the United States and the vision that US President Donald Trump has set forth for regional and international partners. This vision aims to achieve peace, reach a durable solution to the Palestinian issue, and contribute to strengthening regional and global security and stability.
He reaffirmed the GCC’s firm commitment to supporting the Palestinian people and establishing an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 border with East Jerusalem as its capital. This position is consistent with the International Legitimacy Resolution and the Arab Peace Initiative.
The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) also condemned these statements as “dangerous and irresponsible” and called them an unacceptable call for the occupying power, Israel, to further expand and occupy Palestinian and Arab lands.
The OIC Secretary-General stressed that these statements are based on false and rejected historical and ideological claims that violate national sovereignty, diplomatic norms, principles of international law, United Nations resolutions, and the United Nations Charter.
SPA warned that this extremist ideological discourse could fuel extremism and encourage the continuation of illegal Israeli occupation displacement, settlement, annexation, and attempts to impose sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories, actions that threaten the security and stability of the entire region.
Furthermore, the OIC Secretary-General reaffirmed his firm and absolute support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, in particular their right to self-determination and the right to establish an independent and sovereign State on the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
