On the anniversary of Saudi National Day, we remember that the founding of the country is not just a historical event, but rather the launching of a national project that established the foundations of unity and stability since 1727 AD in the hands of Imam Muhammad bin Saud – may God have mercy on him – who began the journey of building people and places and establishing an integrated system of civilization that made Saudi Arabia a model of stability and development. Since that day, construction has been an ongoing approach, reinforced by the concept of a solid state that combines authenticity and renewal, deep roots and new ambitions.

For three centuries, the Saudi state’s donations have continued unabated. Rather, the concept of construction has evolved from integrating entities to an inclusive and sustainable development industry, and today Saudi Arabia is leading one of the world’s largest transformational movements through Saudi Vision 2030. This has reshaped the character of the economy, raised the ceiling on national ambitions, launched megaprojects that changed the development landscape, and strengthened the Kingdom’s position on the map of regional and global influence.

This change is evident in the modern urban fabric, now reflecting a national identity that preserves its heritage and confidently shapes its future. The Kingdom’s urban design has reached a high level of sophistication, based on the concepts of quality of life, sustainability, and people-place integration, while adopting the latest international practices in smart urban planning. Key projects are integrated models in urban design and building vibrant cities that combine advanced infrastructure, a sustainable environment, and the knowledge economy, reflecting a deep understanding of the role of urbanism in creating development and promoting social well-being.

This development is clearly crystallized, especially in the eastern region, due to its strategic location, economic and industrial importance, and continued focus within the vision goals. The region has witnessed qualitative changes in development projects, modernized infrastructure and improved quality of life, becoming an essential pillar in the process of national transformation and a living example of the integration of ambitious vision and effective implementation.

From the heart of this advanced development environment, Imam Abdul Rahman Bin Faisal University will continue its national role as an academic institution contributing to knowledge creation and human capacity building, based on the Third Strategic Plan 2025-2030, which is based on a clear vision of becoming a pioneering university in creating the future. Through its mission, the University aims to equip globally competitive human capabilities, produce qualitative research and innovation, and provide pioneering social contributions with inspiring capabilities, effective partnerships, and excellence. Institutionally in a way that improves quality of life and creates sustainable development impact.

The University has established its identity as a university focused on health and quality of life, in line with national development priorities and community needs, and its plans are based on achieving sustainable impact, strengthening capacity and advancing institutional excellence. The plan also included seven strategic objectives that were translated into 39 initiatives, from which 138 projects and performance indicators emerged. All of this works within an integrated path that includes developing teaching and learning, supporting research and innovation, strengthening infrastructure, activating governance and digital transformation, developing community partnerships, developing human capital, and achieving financial sustainability.

In recent years, universities have witnessed qualitative changes in digital transformation, modernizing academic programs, expanding research partnerships, and strengthening university environments that support innovation and entrepreneurship. This contributes to building a competitive knowledge economy and strengthens the role of universities as effective drivers in sustainable development systems.

God bless this development as it builds on the unfettered support of King Salman bin Abdulaziz, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, who have made education a national priority and universities a strategic platform for shaping the future and building a knowledge-based economy.

It marks the beginning of a journey that will build both individuals and nations and establish an inclusive system of civilization that has made Saudi Arabia a model of resilience and growth. Since that day, the construction has continued with a continuous approach, reinforcing a solid state concept that combines reliability and renewal, deep roots and new ambitions.
