Jasem Al-Budawi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, emphasized the importance of strengthening the process of joint economic development work among the GCC countries, through follow-up with Member States and the development of working mechanisms in line with the GCC countries’ aspirations to achieve more common outcomes and lead to economic unity.
2026 goals
This was revealed yesterday during an internal meeting held by Al-Budawi with staff from the Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Development at the General Secretariat headquarters in Riyadh.
At the beginning of the meeting, he reviewed the report of the Assistant Secretary-General for AD 2025 on the achievements, the initiatives and programs achieved in the economic and development field, the work program and goals for AD 2026 aimed at strengthening the process of collective action to achieve the desired aspirations.
The Secretary-General noted the importance of continuing the pace of contributions to achieve desired future goals and foster the progress of the Cooperation Council.
GCC Secretary-General Jassim Al-Budawi stressed the importance of strengthening economic development collaboration among Council Member States through continuous follow-up with Member States and the development of working mechanisms in line with Council Member States’ aspirations to achieve more joint outcomes of the GCC and lead to economic unity.
Goals for 2026

At the outset of the meeting, he reviewed the Under-Secretary-General’s achievement report for 2025, including initiatives and programs achieved in the economic and development field, as well as the work program and goals for 2026, aimed at strengthening joint working channels in a way that realizes the desired aspirations.
The Secretary-General noted the importance of maintaining the pace of contributions to achieve desired future goals and strengthen the path of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
