An Iranian military helicopter crashed into a market in the central province of Isfahan, killing the pilot, co-pilot and two others.

Official media reported on Tuesday that the incident occurred in the town of Dorja, about 330 kilometers (205 miles) south of Iran’s capital Isfahan province.

Isfahan is home to a major Iranian air base, as well as nuclear facilities attacked by the United States during the Iran-Israel war last June.

Iran’s Mehr Agency added that the plane crash caused a fire that emergency teams were able to extinguish. A helicopter crashed in Durge city, Isfahan province, and rescue teams rushed to the scene to extinguish the fire that broke out.

Iranian state television said a military helicopter was on a training flight. He added that the pilot and co-pilot were killed in the accident and showed footage of debris and smoke rising from the market.

The semi-official Fars news agency reported that two people on the ground at the market were killed in the accident.

The incident occurred a week after a US-made F-4 fighter jet belonging to Iran’s air force crashed in Hamedan province in the country’s west, killing the pilot during a training flight.

The plane crashed while carrying out a night training mission in Hamedan province. “The air force aircraft crashed while carrying out a night training mission in Hamedan province (western region),” Iran’s Air Force spokesperson said in a statement carried by IRNA’s official agency.
