Today, the President of the United Nations General Assembly, Annalina Verbock, called on the United States, the largest contributor to the international organization’s budget, to pay the full amount after the U.S. government only made a partial payment of less than 5% of the total.

Asked about the U.S. payment at a news conference in Geneva, Bourbock said: “All member states must pay their contributions in full and on time, but $160 million is by no means the full amount.”
In response to a question whether the UN was at risk of being marginalized, Bierbok added: “The UN supported the peace council set up by President Trump on issues relating only to the Gaza Strip.”
“We have an international organization and a legitimate institution, the United Nations, for everything that concerns peace and security,” she pointed out.
