JEDDAH — The Council of Ministers reiterated Saudi Arabia’s firm position and continued support for Saudi Arabia’s efforts to achieve security and peace and strengthen development and prosperity at the regional and global levels. The Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman chaired a cabinet meeting in Jeddah on Tuesday.
At the beginning of the session, the Crown Prince briefed the Cabinet on the results of his recent meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. During the meeting, the two countries discussed ways to further develop their historic and close bilateral relations across various fields. The discussion also addressed key issues in the Arab and Islamic world, developments in the Middle East, and continued efforts to address issues related to regional security and stability. The Crown Prince also conveyed to the Cabinet the contents of a message he received from Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency after the meeting, Media Minister Salman al-Dosari said the cabinet reviewed recent developments in the work of the joint committee between Saudi Arabia and several friendly countries. The Council discussed the ongoing progress of coordination and cooperation initiatives towards further strengthening and expanding bilateral and multilateral relations.
Domestically, the Cabinet considered several internal reports. The Council expressed its deep appreciation for the broad public engagement in the national initiative, which aims to support philanthropy across the Kingdom and promote the values of solidarity and giving, while maximizing humanitarian and development impact.
The Cabinet authorized the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the King Abdulaziz Research Documentation Foundation (Dara) or his representative to sign a draft Memorandum of Cooperation between Dara and the Ministry of Digital Development of the Kyrgyz Republic, and authorized the Minister of Interior or his representative to consult with the Pakistani side and sign a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Saudi and Pakistan Ministry of Interior in the field of scientific, training and research cooperation.
The Cabinet approved a memorandum of understanding between the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on political consultations, and another memorandum of understanding between the Saudi and Estonian governments on cooperation in promoting direct investment.
The Council authorized the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, or his representative, to consult with the Turkmen side and sign the draft Memorandum of Understanding between the Governments of Saudi Arabia and Turkmenistan in the field of environmental protection, and authorized the Minister of Health, or his deputy, to consult with the Pakistani and Dutch sides, and to sign the draft Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of health between the Saudi Ministry of Health, the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination of Pakistan, and the Ministry of Health of the Netherlands. Welfare and sports.
The Cabinet approved two agreements between the governments of Saudi Arabia, Kiribati and Cuba in the field of air transport services, and another memorandum of understanding between Saudi Arabia’s Awqaf General Authority and Oman’s Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs in the field of donations.
The Cabinet approved the Guiding Model of a Memorandum of Understanding for Cooperation in the Exploration and Peaceful Uses of Space between the Saudi Space Agency and its counterparts of other countries, and authorized the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, the Chairman of the Board of the Saudi Space Agency, or his representative to consult and sign the draft Memorandum of Understanding on the Guiding Model with their counterparts of other countries.
The Cabinet approved the merger of the National Center for Competitiveness and the Saudi Center for Economy and Business to form a single organization called the Saudi Center for Competitiveness and Business, and approved its organizational structure. The Board also approved a one-year extension of the pilot period for implementing the Official Communications and Document Retention Regulations.
