Al Nasr captain Cristiano Ronaldo called off his famous ‘C’ celebration after scoring a goal for his team against Al Najma in the Saudi Roshan League match yesterday (Wednesday) night.
Ronaldo opened the scoring with a penalty in the seventh minute and assisted Senegal teammate Sadio Mane for his fourth goal in the second half.
surprise at celebration
Over the years, fans have become accustomed to seeing Ronaldo’s famous “C” celebration. The celebration is characterized by Ronaldo running, jumping, turning 180 degrees and landing in a powerful position, but on Wednesday night, “The Don” introduced the audience to a new move.
After Al Nasr’s captain took a successful penalty kick, the 41-year-old ran towards the corner flag and raised his hands in the air. While many were expecting the usual celebration, he surprised everyone by jumping and moving his wrists to imitate a basketball shot.

Interpretation of ‘controversial’ celebrations
According to Portuguese newspaper Ojogo, Ronaldo mockingly imitated the tifo (the embodiment of American basketball star Stephen Curry’s three-point shot) raised by Al Hilal fans during El Clasico against Al Ittihad.
Ronaldo’s celebration was interpreted by some to be a mockery of Al Hilal star Ruben Neves’s comments criticizing the referee after the draw with Al Taouun, who said: “You could see the players touching the ball inside the penalty area like it was a basketball or a handball, but the referee used video technology to not count anything.”
