Emirates to bring more than 1 million tourists to Mauritius since 2022

Emirates has supported Mauritius’ tourism ambitions for more than 20 years, playing a central role in increasing tourist arrivals and opening up new global source markets.

Since 2022, the company has transported more than 1 million tourists to the island, representing more than 20% of the total arrivals from 2022 to 2025, contributing to the growth of the entire tourism value chain and supporting thousands of local jobs.

In 2025, Mauritius recorded historic visitor numbers of 1.44 million, an increase of 3.9% year-on-year, with Emirates increasing passenger numbers to the island by 5.7%.

Emirates diversifies Mauritius’ visitor base across Europe, North America, Asia and the Gulf, with a network of more than 150 destinations and extensive codeshare partnerships.

The airline operates three daily flights to the island, including two A380 flights, offering approximately 10,500 seats per week.

Since 2012, Emirates has worked closely with the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority to implement joint marketing campaigns, trade understanding trips, roadshows and promotional partnerships with global hotel brands.

Through Emirates Holidays, Mauritius remains a core leisure destination supported by carefully selected packages and customized experiences.

Rising demand, expanding connectivity and continuous promotional activities have made Mauritius one of the most popular destinations on Emirates’ global network.

Nabil Sultan, Executive Vice President, Passenger Sales and Country Management at Emirates, said: “Mauritius continues to be the jewel in our Indian Ocean portfolio and one of the most coveted destinations for travelers across our network. We are committed to increasing Mauritius’ global profile through strategic partnerships across the globe, and are committed to working with tourism organizations, leading hotels and other travel partners to create curated luxury travel experiences that showcase Mauritius’ natural beauty and warm hospitality.”

We would like to thank the Mauritian authorities for their continued support in ensuring the smooth operation of our flagship A380 and Boeing 777 services. Our consistent flight schedules are critical to connecting to key markets on our global network and attracting interest from international travel buyers, helping us deliver on our shared commitment to driving sustainable visitor growth. We are also pleased to support and complement the operations of Air Mauritius, the national airline that has contributed so much to the success of this route.

Driven by our commitment to Mauritius and the evolving needs of our customers across our network, we are proud to introduce a refurbished Boeing 777 with Premium Economy from March 29th, operating daily flights with EK709s and EK710s. The aircraft will also offer a number of other onboard enhancements that will enhance the travel experience for customers on the Mauritius-Dubai route, while providing exceptional value to travelers. ”

Dinesh Valenchobey, Chairman of the MTPA, thanked Emirates for its continued support and efforts for the Mauritius tourism industry, saying, “Since 2002, Emirates has increased the number of tourists to destination Mauritius through its Dubai hub, which connects us with the rest of the world. Emirates has also played a key role in providing our destinations and guests with a unique A380 aircraft that now operates daily at SSR International Airport. We look forward to future cooperation for the benefit of the airline. This is to ensure that the MTPA achieves the bold goals it has set for Mauritius as a destination. ”
