The International Atomic Energy Agency said it does not yet have access to any of the four uranium enrichment facilities announced by Iran and stressed that it does not have information about the current size or location of Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile or whether it has stopped all enrichment operations.
Implementation of verification activities
The agency said in its report that Iran has not submitted a report on the status of the attacked nuclear facilities or the associated nuclear material, nor has it allowed inspectors access to those facilities. Furthermore, he reiterated the importance of being able to carry out verification activities in Iran without delay.
In a confidential report sent to member states today (Friday), the international organization revealed that some of Iran’s highly enriched uranium, close to the level needed to make weapons, was stored underground at its nuclear facility in Isfahan.
Notably, this is the first time authorities have reported a storage site for uranium enriched to up to 60%, close to the 90% level used to make nuclear weapons.
Diplomats reported that the entrance to a facility in Isfahan was bombed during a US-Israeli military offensive in June, but damage to the site appeared to be limited.
Constructive cooperation with agencies
In an unpublished report obtained by Agence France-Presse on Friday, the IAEA called on Iran to cooperate “constructively” and stressed that the country’s request to verify all nuclear material was with “the utmost urgency.”
“Technical consultations will be held in Vienna during the week commencing March 2, 2026,” the report said, recalling that Secretary-General Rafael Grossi participated in the Iran-US talks held on February 17 and 26.
The Director-General also called on Iran to cooperate constructively with the Agency to facilitate the full and effective implementation of safeguard measures in Iran, it added. He stressed the need to address with the utmost urgency the agency’s lack of continuity of access to all previously declared nuclear material at relevant facilities in Iran.
