DUBAI – Loud explosions were heard Sunday in Dubai and Qatar’s capital Doha for the second day in a row, with Oman also being hit for the first time as retaliatory strikes by the United States and Israel for the Iranian attack spread across the Gulf.
Iran has previously said it would target US military bases in the region, but various other locations in the Gulf city have also been attacked.
In Dubai, debris from the intercepted drone fell on two houses, injuring two people, the Dubai Media Office said.
Dubai International Airport, the landmark Burj Al Arab hotel and the man-made Palm Jumeirah island were all damaged, authorities said.
Thick black smoke continues to rise from the Jebel Ali port area, and debris from an intercepted missile set one of the berths on fire on Sunday.
In neighboring Oman, the commercial port of Duqm was targeted by two drones, injuring one worker, state news agency reported.
Oman escaped Saturday’s retaliatory attack.
In Qatar, the interior ministry said it was responding to a limited fire in an industrial area after debris fell from an intercepted missile.
