The Arabian Gulf Cup Football Federation announced today, Sunday, that due to the current situation in the region, the match between national team Al Shabab and Iraq’s Zako in the Gulf Champions League for Clubs has been postponed, and a new date will be decided at a later date.
The Arabian Gulf Cup Football Federation confirmed this through an official statement released on its account on the social networking site.
It added: “The federation will continue to monitor developments, provided that the match will be rescheduled in a timely manner and all parties will be informed of the new date once it is officially approved. We pray to God for everyone’s safety.”
The match was scheduled to be held at Riyadh’s SHG Stadium next Tuesday as part of the first leg of the tournament’s semi-finals, before a formal decision was taken to protect the safety of all involved.
The Zako delegation arrived in the capital Riyadh on Saturday morning in preparation for the clashes, before the decision to postpone was announced.
