Reuters reported today (Friday) from sources familiar with Israel’s military strategy that Israeli intelligence sources indicated that attacks on Lebanon’s Hezbollah would continue even after the end of the air war launched by Israel and the United States against Iran, saying the two fronts were not linked.

Israel had warned Lebanon before the war that it would launch a strong attack if Hezbollah intervened, and Hezbollah fired missiles at Israel on Monday and raided Beirut’s southern suburbs and eastern and southern Lebanon in response.

Yesterday (Thursday), the Israeli military issued an evacuation warning for residents of Beirut’s southern suburbs after ordering them to evacuate large areas of the south while launching airstrikes. Military officials said this was aimed at “eliminate the threat” posed by Hezbollah. Meanwhile, Hezbollah warned Israelis to leave towns near the border. The official acknowledged that “Israel will not tolerate” exposing residents who did not leave their towns and villages in northern Israel to gunfire. He added that Israeli operations in Lebanon are likely to continue even after the attack on Iran ends.

Two senior Lebanese security officials and a Lebanese foreign security official said they expected Israel to continue its military operations in Lebanon even after the broader war with Iran ends. One Lebanese official added: “This is about eliminating Hezbollah completely.”

The three officials did not rule out the possibility of Israel’s long-term military occupation of the entire southern border area of Lebanon.

Meanwhile, Israel confirmed it would not evacuate towns along the border and sent additional soldiers to Lebanon, describing it as a “defensive measure aimed at protecting” its citizens living in nearby areas.

Lebanon’s Health Ministry said this week that 123 people were killed and 683 injured in Israeli attacks.

Israeli officials said the two fronts were unrelated, indicating that attacks on Lebanon’s Hezbollah are likely to continue even after Israel and the United States end their air war against Iran, Reuters reported today (Friday) from sources familiar with Israel’s military strategy.

Israel had warned Lebanon before the war that it would carry out heavy attacks if Hezbollah intervened, but Hezbollah fired rockets at Israel on Monday, and Israel responded with airstrikes on the southern outskirts of Beirut and eastern and southern Lebanon.

The Israeli military yesterday (Thursday) issued an evacuation advisory for residents of Beirut’s southern suburbs after ordering them to evacuate large areas of the south during airstrikes. Military officials said the aim was to “eliminate the threat” posed by Hezbollah. Meanwhile, Hezbollah warned Israelis to leave towns near the border. The official acknowledged that “Israel will not tolerate” any shooting directed at residents who have not left their towns and villages in northern Israel. He added that Israeli operations in Lebanon are likely to continue even after the attack on Iran ends.
