A security operation carried out by Kuwait’s Interior Ministry has revealed shocking details inside a home after months of raids to arrest drug suspects revealed a human tragedy.
The Ministry announced that the Anti-Narcotics Directorate was able to arrest a suspect, working as a military officer for the Drug Enforcement Agency, in the Laayoune area, who was in possession of psychotropic drugs and a large amount of “chemical substances”, as well as large sums of money and other items suspected to have been prepared for the purpose of human trafficking and abuse.
But the seizure wasn’t the only surprise. While searching the defendant’s home, the guards heard a distress call from one of the closed rooms. When he went to the source of the sound and opened the door, he discovered that his sister had been imprisoned in the room for about 10 months.
Tests revealed that the windows in the rooms were kept from opening and secured shut using construction materials in an attempt to make the place more like a prison and prevent detainees from escaping.
Immediately, the brothers in the house were taken into custody and referred to the competent authorities to complete legal formalities and take necessary action against them.
The Ministry of Interior stressed that enforcing the law and maintaining public order is the sole responsibility of the state, and under no circumstances should anyone circumvent this system or attempt to enforce the law themselves.
The Ministry emphasizes that Kuwait is a country of laws and systems, that the law applies to everyone without exception, both old and young, that those who dare to violate the law or violate the rights of others will be subject to firm and deterrent legal measures, and that there will be no laxity in holding violators accountable.
