Abu Dhabi: AD Ports Group today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BUA Group, one of Africa’s largest food, mining, manufacturing and industrial conglomerates, and MAIR Group (ADX: MAIR), a strategic investment company focused on food retail and commercial real estate in the UAE, to explore the development of integrated sugar mills and edible oil facilities in Abu Dhabi and selected international markets.
The partnership aims to build a world-class food manufacturing and processing ecosystem, with the goal of establishing the region’s largest agricultural hub serving both local and global demand. This initiative, in line with the UAE National Food Security Strategy 2051, will support economic diversification, stimulate industrial growth and strengthen the UAE’s position as a global center for agricultural trade and distribution.
The MoU covers Abu Dhabi’s Khalifa Port and potential projects in Africa and Latin America, leveraging Khalifa Port’s advanced infrastructure and intermodal connectivity to drive the expansion of AD Ports Group’s global presence in the agro-industrial sector, with the group already developing agricultural bulk handling and storage infrastructure with partners in Pakistan and Kazakhstan.
The MoU will also assess opportunities in grains, pulses, animal feed, agricultural products, and related shipping, logistics, ports and distribution solutions.
