Adam Mark, an Australian who attended the match between Indonesia’s Persib Bandung and Thailand’s Ratchaburi, recorded in his official report the incidents surrounding the second leg of the Round of 16 of the AFC Champions League 2, including a large number of fans descending on the field and attacking the Saudi international match referee Majid Al Shamrani and his staff. The Asian Football Confederation is expected to impose sanctions on the club, along with the Indonesian Football Association, in the coming days for violating regulations adopted in the continental competition. This is because AFC regulations stipulate that clubs and local federations are responsible for the safety of spectator organizations and for ensuring that fans are not allowed on the field, in order to protect the safety and security of all those participating in the tournament.

AFC appointed Saudi staff to manage the match, led by Saudi international referee Majid Al Shamrani and supported by assistant referees Omar Al Jamal and Hisham Al Rifai, with Sultan Al Harbi taking over the duties of Video Technical Referee (VAR).
