The Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, Engineer Ahmed Alrajhi, confirmed that the labor market system has achieved 92% of the goals of the Labor Market Strategy.
He noted that the number of Saudis working in the private sector has reached 2.5 million, reflecting the success of the nationalization program and the strengthening of national capabilities.
Mr. Al Rajhi explained this in a meeting with a number of men, women and entrepreneurs from the Medina region as part of his visit to the region, within the ministry’s keen framework to strengthen integration between sectors, develop labor market systems and strengthen national capacities, contributing to achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
Al Rajhi said that in addition to issuing more than one million flexible and remote working contracts in line with changing working styles and the needs of the modern labor market, more than 430,000 citizens benefit from self-employment, and flexible and modern labor programs have contributed to expanding opportunities for economic participation.
4.5 million training opportunities
In terms of capacity building and skills development, Al Rajhi pointed out that 4.5 million training opportunities have been launched within the “Waad” campaign, of which 2 million training opportunities have been completed so far, in addition to which more than 1.5 million people have benefited from training programs provided by the Human Resource Development Fund “Hadaf”, receiving support of more than R3.8 billion, increasing the readiness of national cadres and aligning their skills with market demands.
Minister Al Rajhi reviewed the role of the Social Development Bank in supporting economic empowerment and entrepreneurship, noting that the amount of support provided reached SR8.5 billion, benefiting more than 130,000 beneficiaries, and contributing to the revitalization of small and medium-sized enterprises and strengthening economic stability.
Economic empowerment and investment stimulation
The conference aimed to strengthen partnerships between human resources and social development systems and the local business sector, and aimed to discuss ways to develop labor market systems, support economic empowerment and entrepreneurship programs, and stimulate local investment, in a way that strengthens the private sector’s contribution to economic and social development.
Mr. Al Rajhi’s visit included a meeting with Mr. Nayef bin Odeh Al-Saadi, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Medina Chamber of Commerce and Industry, during which prospects for joint cooperation between the Ministry and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which will contribute to supporting economic empowerment programs and strengthening partnerships between the public and private sectors, were discussed.
Expanding partnerships in various fields
Mr. Al Rajhi emphasized that the Ministry will continue to expand its partnerships with various sectors to improve the working environment, improve the efficiency of the labor market system, and increase the contribution of the private sector to economic and social development, praising the outstanding development movement witnessed in the Medina region.
The visit included Al Rajhi’s participation in the “Volunteer Your Expertise” initiative organized by the Ministry, in addition to visiting the “Made in the City” exhibition, which reflects the national model of excellence in entrepreneurship and local industry.
