Lebanese President Joseph Aoun stressed that the ban on Hezbollah’s military and security activities is a “sovereign, final and irreversible decision.”

Yesterday (Monday), the Council of Ministers decided that the Lebanese state alone has the right to limit peace and war decisions in its hands and prohibit military and security operations beyond the law.

Aoun said the Council of Ministers had assigned the army and security forces to implement it in all regions of Lebanon.

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam announced that Lebanon would ban Hezbollah’s military activities after the group launched missile and drone attacks on Israel in “retaliation” for the assassination of Iranian leader Ali Khamenei.

Meanwhile, Egypt’s ambassador to Lebanon, Alaa Moussa, confirmed the full support of the five-member commission, which includes the ambassadors of Saudi Arabia, the United States, France, Qatar, and Egypt, for the Lebanese state, declared its support for the Council of Ministers’ decisions, and declared its rejection of any action that would deviate from Lebanon’s legitimacy. He stressed that diplomatic action is a safe haven to protect Lebanon’s security and stability and maintain its sovereignty.

Foreign Minister Moussa said today, Tuesday, after the five-member committee’s visit to Baabda Palace and a meeting with President Joseph Aoun: “We affirm that we support the Lebanese state at this stage and fully support the decision of the Council of Ministers. We emphasize that we reject any action that is outside Lebanon’s legitimacy, and that diplomatic work is a safe haven to protect Lebanon’s security and stability and maintain its sovereignty.”

He added: “We are committed to supporting the Lebanese army and will confirm that a meeting will be held in France to support the army when the situation allows.” Everyone supports the Lebanese state’s decision.

Regarding Hezbollah’s continued missile launches, the Lebanese army needs to address this issue, and President Aoun assured that the army will continue to implement the plan in the second phase and will not withdraw from it.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun stressed that the ban on Hezbollah’s military and security activities is a “sovereign and final decision that cannot be reversed.”

Yesterday (Monday) the Cabinet made a decision regarding the Lebanese state only, granting it exclusive powers to manage matters of peace and war and to prohibit military and security activities that violate the law.

Prime Minister Aoun said the cabinet has entrusted the military and security forces to implement this decision across all Lebanese territory.

Regarding Hezbollah’s continued firing of rockets, the Lebanese army needs to take action on this issue, and President Aoun assured that the army will continue to implement its plan without retreating in the second phase.
