Berger Holdings has launched the Berger Heart Institute in Al Ain, introducing a dedicated center for advanced and comprehensive cardiovascular care.
The institute combines clinical expertise, advanced technology and a patient-centric approach under one roof, enhancing access to specialized cardiac services across Al Ain and the surrounding region.
The opening ceremony was attended by Hasima Al Afari, Member of the Federal Council of State. Mr. Rashid Al Mannaei, Director General of Al Ain City. Fahad Al Nuaimi, Director of Al Ain Endowments and Islamic Affairs Department; and representatives of various government agencies.
Dr Abdullah Al Nuaimi, consultant interventional cardiologist and director of the Bourgère Heart Institute, said the center aims to provide timely, high-quality cardiac care locally.
“Our vision is to build a first-class cardiovascular center in Al Ain that provides systematic long-term management of chronic heart disease while rapidly responding to emergency cardiac conditions. Patients can now access advanced cardiac services within their own region,” he said.
Led by a team of internationally experienced cardiology consultants and experts, the institute provides comprehensive services covering prevention, early diagnosis, complex interventions and long-term disease management.
Advanced cardiac interventional services include diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac catheterization, coronary and peripheral interventions including carotid artery procedures, pacemaker implantation, and renal denervation for resistant hypertension. Specialized programs are available to manage high blood pressure, hypercholesterolemia, coronary artery disease, and angina, as well as monitor heart failure and arrhythmia.
The facility is equipped with a fully operational cardiac catheterization laboratory, CT coronary angiography, advanced echocardiography systems, stress testing equipment, and Holter ECG monitoring services, allowing accurate diagnosis and timely treatment without external referrals.
Professor Abdullah Shehab, consultant interventional cardiologist at Royal Hospital Bourgère in Al Ain, said that today’s cardiovascular care has expanded beyond treatment to prevention and continuity.
“At Bourgère Heart Institute, we combine advanced intervention capabilities with strong prevention programs to support patients every step of the way, from risk assessment to complex treatment and long-term follow-up,” he said.
Coinciding with this launch, Al Ain’s Bourgère Hospital, in collaboration with The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, hosted the first International Cardiology Symposium.
The symposium brought together 12 expert speakers from the United States and UAE and was attended by more than 200 medical professionals and representatives. This marked a milestone in the academic and clinical collaboration between Al Ain’s Berger Hospital and The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
Millie Valverde, director of Destination Medicine and Global Healthcare at the James Cancer Hospital and The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s Solove Institute, said the symposium was an opportunity to strengthen professional connections and advance cardiovascular care.
Dr. Aisha Ali Ahmed Abdullah Al-Mahri, Al Ain Regional Chief Executive Officer of Bourgère Holdings, said the launch and international collaboration reflects Bourgère’s commitment to bringing world-class expertise and innovation to the UAE.
With the establishment of the Burjeel Heart Institute and its global partnerships, Burjeel aims to advance specialized cardiac services in Al Ain while improving clinical standards through international knowledge exchange.
