City overwhelm Liverpool…close gap on Arsenal – Saudi News

Manchester City snatched a decisive 2-goal-to-1 victory from hosts Liverpool in Round 25 of the English Premier League, played at Anfield on Sunday night.

Liverpool move forward…City’s quick response

Liverpool took the lead in the 74th minute when Dominik Svozlai’s incredible free-kick found the left corner of Manchester City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

It didn’t take Manchester City long to react and they leveled the score 10 minutes later when Erling Haaland headed the ball over the Liverpool defense and Bernardo Silva, alone with goalkeeper Alisson Becker, fired home.

City’s ‘remontada’ was completed in the 90th + 3rd minute after the referee awarded a penalty, which Haaland successfully kicked into Alisson Becker’s right.

Towards the end of the game, Dominik Sboszlai was sent off for tugging on Erling Haaland’s shirt, while Liverpool fans in the stands were saddened.

With this result, Manchester City now sit in second place in the Premier League with 50 points, closing the gap on leaders Arsenal to six points.

Meanwhile, Liverpool, who suffered their eighth loss of the season, are now in 6th place with 39 points.

Liverpool took the lead in the 74th minute with a superb free kick from Dominik Szoboszlai that found the left corner of Manchester City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Manchester City didn’t take long to react and equalized just 10 minutes later when Erling Haaland headed the ball past Liverpool’s defense and Bernardo Silva slotted it past goalkeeper Alisson Becker and into the net.

City completed their counterattack in the 90+3 minute, with the referee awarding a penalty, which Haaland transferred to Alisson Becker’s right.

With this result, Manchester City increased their points tally to 50, moving them into second place in the Premier League and narrowing the gap with leaders Arsenal to six points.
