ALMERIA — Cristiano Ronaldo has acquired a 25% stake in UD Almeria, the Spanish club confirmed in an official statement.
The investment is being made through CR7 Sports Investments, a subsidiary of CR7 SA, forming part of an ownership consortium led by Mohamed Al Khereij through his SMC Group, which owns the business.
The statement said the agreement is an important step in both the club’s continued expansion and the growth of Ronaldo’s investment portfolio beyond his playing career.
UD Almería President Al Hereiji welcomed the move: “We are very happy that Cristiano has chosen to invest in our club. He is rated as the greatest in the history of football, knows Spanish football very well and understands the potential of what we are building here, both as a team and as an academy.”
Ronaldo explained that the deal was a long-term ambition to contribute to football off the pitch as well.
“It has been a long-standing ambition of mine to contribute to football, not just on the pitch,” he said. “UD Almería is a Spanish club with strong fundamentals and clear growth potential. I look forward to working with the leadership team to support the club’s next phase of growth.”
The move adds a new dimension to Ronaldo’s career, as the five-time Ballon d’Or winner expands his influence in the world of football from global superstar to club investor.
