Dubai’s private developers, holiday home operators and hospitality sector are extending free accommodation offers to stranded passengers as flight cancellations and regional airspace closures continue to disrupt travel across the Gulf.
Danube Properties and Dougasta Properties both announced that they would offer vacant housing units free of charge to travelers who are unable to leave the country.
“If you are stranded and need immediate accommodation, we are offering temporary accommodation support free of charge,” Danube Properties said in a public message. He urged anyone in need to contact the company via Instagram @DanubeProperties.

Another developer, Peace Homes Developments, has also launched an initiative to offer free temporary accommodation, prioritizing families with pregnant women, children and elderly travelers.
The response extends beyond large developers. Some vacation home operators and short-term rental companies are opening vacant apartments, waiving service fees, or offering free nights to passengers with confirmed cancellations.
Industry insiders say some companies are coordinating support through social media and direct assistance to help families find temporary shelter amid rising room prices and limited room availability.
This private sector initiative comes in parallel with a government directive mandating the provision of free accommodation to passengers stranded due to the crisis. Officials have instructed hotels to extend stays without penalty if necessary. However, some budget hotel operators have reportedly been slow to comply with the order, with travelers voicing concerns that they will be asked to vacate their rooms or pay extra fees despite the exceptional circumstances.
The accommodation crunch remains acute as thousands of transit passengers, tourists and expatriates await a clear decision on the resumption of flights. Airfares on the routes are soaring, passengers are competing for options, and hotel occupancy is tightening.
