The dollar’s exchange rate against the Egyptian pound rose more than 2.1% during the day’s trading, pushing the US currency closer to the 50-pound barrier for the first time since July last year.
According to statistics compiled by Al Arabiya Business, Credit Agricole Bank, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, SAIB Bank and Next Bank’s highest exchange rate to the US dollar was 49.75 pounds when buying and 49.85 pounds when selling.

Meanwhile, the minimum exchange rate for the US dollar at the Housing and Development Bank was £47.86 for purchases and £47.96 for sales.
The dollar exchange rate of the National Bank of Egypt, Bank of Egypt, Arab Bank, Faisal Bank, and Kuwait Financial Institute Bank was recorded at 49.80 pounds for selling and 49.70 pounds for buying.
The exchange rate of the US dollar at the Central Bank of Egypt was 48.82 pounds sold and 48.68 pounds bought.

The US dollar started to appreciate strongly against the Egyptian pound during yesterday’s trading, with the US currency approaching the £49 barrier after a period of recovery for the Egyptian currency.
The Egyptian pound ended 2025 on a strong note, gaining 6.7% against the dollar since the beginning of last year, supported by a record surge in remittances from Egyptians working abroad and a recovery in liquidity in the banking sector.

“National Bank of Egypt”, “Bank of Egypt”, “Arab Banking Corporation”, “Faisal Bank”, and “Kuwait Finance House” recorded a dollar exchange rate of 49.70 pounds for buying and 49.80 pounds for selling.
At the Central Bank of Egypt, the exchange rate against the US dollar was recorded at 48.68 pounds for buying and 48.82 pounds for selling.
