The dollar’s exchange rate against the Egyptian pound rose 2% on the day, pushing the US currency above the 50-pound barrier for the first time in months.
This is linked to the withdrawal of foreign investors in view of the escalation of geopolitical tensions in the region, especially after the US and Israel launched military operations against Iran, and the latter responded with airstrikes targeting Israel, Gulf states and Arab states.
According to statistics compiled by Al Arabiya Business, the highest exchange rate for the US dollar at Faisal Islamic Bank and Kuwait Finance House Bank was 50.15 pounds for purchase and 50.25 pounds for sale.
The lowest exchange rate for the US dollar at Emirates Bank Dubai was £49.07 for purchase and £49.17 for sale.
The dollar exchange rate of National Bank of Egypt, Credit Agricole Bank, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank and HSBC Bank was recorded at 50.10 pounds for buying and 50.20 pounds for selling.

The Central Bank of Egypt’s dollar exchange rate was recorded at 49.30 pounds for selling and 49.16 pounds for buying.
The Egyptian pound ended 2025 on a strong note, gaining 6.7% against the dollar since the beginning of last year, supported by a record surge in remittances from Egyptians working abroad and a recovery in liquidity in the banking sector.

The lowest exchange rate for the US dollar was at Emirates NBD Bank, at 49.07 pounds for buying and 49.17 pounds for selling.
