The story began when a woman in Alexandria County was alarmed by the circulation of flyers claiming the death of her son, accompanied by offensive statements and anonymous accounts that published her phone number and personal photos, in an attempt to drown her in bullying and slander.
The investigation revealed that the defendant created a fake page using the victim’s name and photo and began publishing obscene content along with her contact information, causing severe psychological damage to the victim and subjecting her to widespread harassment.
The matter did not end there, however, as the defendant tried to spread false news about his son’s death, an act described by security sources as a deliberate attempt to cause panic, abuse and moral pressure.
According to Egyptian security authorities, the woman filed a report at the Bab al-Sharki police station accusing a person living in Dekeira district of verbally assaulting her son through a social media application before the more serious aspects of the case related to intimidation and electronic defamation were revealed.
Using modern technology and tracking digital activities, security authorities were able to identify and arrest the suspect, and the phone used to carry out the incident was found in his possession.
During the confrontation, the defendant admitted that he had published untrue death news in previous disputes, while trying to avoid responsibility for managing the fake page, and these statements are being technically investigated.
The mobile phone was seized and submitted for technical examination, and the public prosecutor’s office launched an investigation to take the necessary legal measures. This incident highlighted the seriousness of electronic crime and how a false publication can become a weapon that destroys the lives of entire families.
