Barcelona suffered a 4-0 defeat to hosts Atlético Madrid in the first leg of the Spanish Cup semi-final, and things will get even tougher in next Tuesday’s second leg.
The Atlético team got off to a strong start and were able to take the lead early on. Barcelona almost got back into the game with a shot from Fermin López, but the ball hit the crossbar and the Argentine missed. However, Atlético quickly scored the third goal through Ademola Lookman (30 goals) and the fourth goal from Julián Álvarez (45+2 goals) to round off the series of goals. Barcelona’s Alex Garcia received a red card (D:85) and the match ended with Atlético Madrid winning the match with four goals scored.
The two teams will meet again next Tuesday at the Camp Nou, but it will be almost impossible for defending champions Barcelona to reach the final.
