The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has set official working hours during Ramadan for employees of government agencies covered by the civil service system to five hours a day, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The ministry also clarified that, provided that government agencies internally announce approved working hours during the holy month, the competent minister may amend the start or end time up to two hours depending on the business interests.
Who is eligible for the civil service ladder?
Eid al-Fitr holidays for employees of companies covered by the civil service system begin at the end of Thursday, the 23rd day of Ramadan, and end at the end of Tuesday, the 5th day of Shawar, according to the Umm al-Qura calendar.
The working hours per day have been set at 6 hours for contract employees based on the regulations for the execution of duties of the Administrative Vice-Minister and Assistant Secretary, and for contract employees based on the competency program.
Regarding Eid al-Fitr leave for these contractors, the provisions of Cabinet Resolution No. (13) apply, which stipulates a minimum leave of 4 working days and a maximum of 5 working days for Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.
Senior corporate officials can switch contractors to work remotely for days beyond five working days, a period during which civil servants enjoy two Eid holidays.

The Eid al-Fitr holiday for employees of companies covered by the civil service scale begins at the end of the day on Thursday, the 23rd of the month of Ramadan and ends at the end of the day on the Tuesday, the 5th of the month of Shawal, according to the Umm al-Qura calendar.
For contractors under the Practitioner Regulations for the role of Ministry Agent and Assistant Agent and for contractors within the program competency, their working hours are set at 6 hours per day.
Eid al-Fitr leave for these contractors is stipulated in Cabinet Resolution No. (13), which stipulates that the minimum leave for Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha is 4 working days and the maximum is 5 working days.
Heads of companies can switch contractors to remote work for more than five working days, a period during which civil servants enjoy both Eid holidays.
