Seoul, March 12, 2025 – The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance has launched the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ programs for Ramadan iftar and date distribution in South Korea and Romania, reinforcing its ongoing commitment to supporting Muslim communities during the blessed month of Ramadan. The initiative is part of a broader effort to provide humanitarian assistance and strengthen ties with Muslims living abroad, reflecting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s dedication to the welfare of the global Muslim community.

In South Korea, the program was initiated on the 10th day of Ramadan 1446 AH, with events held at the Kingdom’s embassy in Seoul and the Central Mosque in the capital. A total of 3 tons of dates were distributed, benefiting approximately 12,000 individuals, while the iftar program provided meals for 9,000 people. The iftar meals, a symbol of the spirit of Ramadan, are set to continue throughout the month at the Central Mosque, offering much-needed nourishment to the local Muslim population. The program aims to alleviate the challenges many face during Ramadan and ensure that all participants can observe the fast with access to a communal iftar meal.

In Romania, the ministry launched the date distribution program on the very first day of Ramadan at the Kingdom’s embassy in Bucharest. A generous 5 tons of dates were distributed to the local Muslim community, benefiting around 20,000 people. The program, which is designed to promote unity and solidarity among Muslims, ensures that those observing Ramadan in Romania have the resources to maintain their fasts and enjoy the traditional practice of sharing dates as part of the iftar meal.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ Ramadan programs, which are conducted annually, reflect the Kingdom’s leadership in supporting Muslim communities worldwide during Ramadan. This initiative not only provides essential food supplies but also serves to reinforce Saudi Arabia’s strong ties with its diplomatic partners and Muslim populations around the world. The distribution of dates and iftar meals serves as a reminder of the importance of community, charity, and solidarity during the holy month, ensuring that no one is left without the means to fully participate in the Ramadan experience.

As the holy month continues, these humanitarian efforts will be a source of great comfort for thousands of Muslims in both South Korea and Romania, furthering the Kingdom’s mission to foster goodwill and support across the global Muslim community.
