The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) on Monday launched a rehabilitation and reintegration initiative for individuals with extremist ideology and terrorist acts known as ‘Idomaji’ in Islamabad.

The ceremony was attended by Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Mohammad Asif and Coalition Secretary-General Mohammed Almoghedi, as well as numerous military, security and diplomatic officials.

In his speech, Almoghedi said the Idomaji initiative is a core pillar of the coalition’s work in the intellectual field, stressing that rehabilitation and reintegration programs constitute the first line of defense against extremism.

He stressed that countering extremism cannot be limited to security and military measures alone, but requires an integrated intellectual and social approach aimed at rebuilding consciousness, rehabilitating individuals and reintegrating them into society in a positive and sustainable way.

He explained that the initiative aims to rescue people involved in terrorism-related crimes intellectually, psychologically and socially from the clutches of extremists and terrorist groups and rebuild their lives.

The program aims to transform them into productive members of their families and communities, prevent their continued exploitation by terrorist leaders, and facilitate their return to national service in the humanitarian and civil spheres, Almoghedi continued.

Mr. Asif praised IMCTC’s efforts and partnership with Pakistan in the fight against extremism and terrorism. He said that hosting the Idomaji Initiative reflects Pakistan’s commitment to strengthen international cooperation and exchange expertise in intellectual rehabilitation and social reintegration.

The initiative includes specialized scientific modules covering rehabilitation and reintegration concepts, model frameworks for rehabilitation programs, program design principles, the nature of terrorist offenses, the foundations of social care, challenges related to social reintegration, and more. These are delivered through training sessions and panel discussions with experts and experts.
