‘Legitimacy’ cancels Iranian and Houthi claims to control Yemeni airspace – Saudi News

Blocking an Iranian delegation’s plane from landing at Sana’a airport confirmed Yemen’s legitimacy, undermining claims by Tehran and the Houthis that they had tried to sell a weak and tired claim of imposing de facto military rule that they controlled Yemen’s airspace and Sana’a airport.

The incident that prevented a plane from Tehran from landing at Sana’a airport showed a breakdown in Houthi propaganda that clashed with reality on the ground, especially after the Houthis were unable to secure the plane’s landing. This was a clear failure that exposed the limits of their actual authority and demonstrated the Houthis’ inability to impose their will even in sovereign institutions over which they claim complete control.

The fact that the plane was forced to go to another airport does not change the essence of the scene or its basic outcome. The real fighting was around Sana’a airport, where the Houthi narrative of “breaking the siege” came crashing down with a bang.

The statement of Dr. Rashad Al Alimi, Chairman of the Yemeni Leadership Council, confirms that, based on his constitutional responsibilities and his position as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, after completing all military, security and political assessments, he has given priority to the protection of civilian lives and the preservation of public property, and has given instructions not to escalate the scope of the conflict in order to achieve his goals, underscoring the extent of his concern for the Yemeni people, and in particular for the Yemeni territory as a whole. Iran aims to do so by pinning Yemen and its people into a war in its own interests and using Yemen’s land and people as a card in a regional conflict.

It unequivocally confirmed that the State will no longer allow any aircraft to violate Yemeni airspace, whether at Sanaa or any other airport, and will deter any attempt to impose a fait accompli that would affect Yemen’s sovereignty or diminish its authority over its land, airspace and all ports of entry.
