US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick announced that the current weak dollar is at a more normal level to expand US exports and support economic growth.

Lutnick explained that the dollar has been pushed to high levels for years as a result of other countries manipulating the dollar’s price to increase exports to the United States.

Lutnick predicted that GDP growth could exceed 5% in the fourth quarter of 2025 and 6% in the first quarter of 2026.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bescent has indicated that President Donald Trump is adopting a strong dollar policy despite the recent decline in currency value due to steps his administration is taking to make investing in dollar assets more attractive.

After the US currency hit a four-year low at the end of January last year, Besant was asked if the US was adopting a strong dollar policy when President Trump praised the devaluation, calling it “amazing,” and said: “The essence of a strong dollar policy lies in the question of whether we are taking the necessary steps to create an environment that supports a strong dollar policy.”

It is noteworthy that the US Treasury Secretary emphasized that the US still has a policy of supporting a “strong dollar”, which means preserving fundamental factors.

In response to a question about whether the United States is adopting a strong dollar policy, given that President Trump welcomed the decline in the U.S. currency after it hit a four-year low in late January and described the depreciation as “amazing,” he said, “The essence of a strong dollar policy lies in the question of whether we are taking the necessary actions to create an environment that supports a strong dollar policy.”

It is noteworthy that the US Treasury Secretary emphasized that the US still has a policy of supporting a “strong dollar”, which means putting fundamental factors in the right place.
