Magrabi Health’s: Driving Quality Healthcare 2025

As Magrabi Health marks its 70th anniversary in 2025, the organization is not just celebrating the past, it’s defining the future. Led by CEO Mutasim Alireza, Magrabi Health has grown from a single eye center into one of the largest networks for eye, ENT, dental, and aesthetic care in the Middle East. In a recent interview with Destination Magazine, Alireza shared how the company’s focus on innovation, specialization, and quality continues to drive its success.

70 Years of Leadership in Healthcare

Magrabi Health began its journey in 1955 when Dr. Amin El-Maghraby founded the region’s first private eye center. Two decades later, in 1975, Dr. Akef El-Maghraby launched the first private eye hospital in the region. This early commitment to specialized care laid the foundation for what would become a pioneering healthcare network.

Over the years, Magrabi Health introduced several medical firsts in the region, including the earliest cataract surgeries, corneal transplants, and LASIK vision correction procedures. These achievements helped establish the group as a leader in advanced eye care.

A Growing Regional Network

Today, Magrabi Health operates more than 40 hospitals and medical centers across Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Egypt, and Yemen. The network has also expanded beyond eye care to include ENT, dental, and aesthetic services. The recent launch of Mayam Aesthetics and the acquisition of Saudi Dent are part of this strategic growth.

“We’ve expanded, but not at the cost of quality,” says Alireza. “We follow standardized protocols, invest in highly trained specialists, and use AI-driven technologies to ensure consistent care across all our locations.”

Innovation in Digital and AI-Driven Healthcare

Magrabi Health is actively investing in digital health solutions. Patients can now book appointments online, and teleconsultation services are in development. AI is already being used in diagnostic processes, particularly for diabetic retinopathy screening, with more applications on the way.

“Our technology supports our mission: better care, faster diagnosis, and personalized treatments,” Alireza explains. This digital transformation allows Magrabi Health to improve both efficiency and accuracy, which are critical in specialized healthcare.

Patient-Centered, Personalized Care

A core part of Magrabi Health’s model is delivering individualized care. “Every patient receives a treatment plan designed around their unique needs,” says Alireza. Collaboration between sub-specialists ensures comprehensive and targeted treatment.

Magrabi Health also maintains a strong focus on hiring. The group recruits top-tier talent not only for their clinical skills but also for their alignment with the organization’s values, collaboration, empathy, and innovation. “High patient volumes and sub-specialization give our doctors the chance to grow quickly and stay sharp,” adds Alireza.

Aligning with Vision 2030

Magrabi Health is committed to supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals. By providing specialized care locally, the group helps reduce outbound medical tourism and contributes to raising the standard of healthcare within the Kingdom.

“Specialized centers deliver better results and greater efficiency,” says Alireza. “This helps us support national priorities while also improving quality of life.”

Looking Ahead: Strategic Growth with Impact

To mark 70 years, Magrabi Health has launched the “70 Years of Trust, Built Around You” campaign. This includes new community outreach efforts, patient education initiatives, and continued investment in underserved regions.

According to Alireza, the company’s future strategy is focused on balanced, sustainable growth. “We are expanding our centers, forming strategic partnerships, and reaching more people without compromising on care.”

He also notes the importance of navigating innovation and regulation effectively. “To stay ahead, we need to lea, not just follow. That means embracing change and constantly improving how we deliver specialized care.”

A Confident Step Into the Future

With 70 years of experience and a clear strategy for the future, Magrabi Health is well-positioned to remain a leader in specialized healthcare across the region. As Alireza concludes, “We’re not slowing down. We’re just getting started on our most ambitious chapter yet.”
