Lieutenant General Osama Rabie, Director General of the Suez Canal Authority, expressed the Suez Canal’s desire to develop a broader and more comprehensive partnership with the Saudi Ports Authority, in line with the rapid development of the concept of maritime and logistics services and the growing demand for Saudi ports as major hubs of global supply chains.

This was announced on the sidelines of the activities of the annual International Maritime Transport and Logistics Conference (MARLOG), when the Head of the Suez Canal Authority and the Chairman of the Saudi Ports Authority, Suleiman bin Khaled Al-Mazrou, met with a high-level delegation and discussed prospects for future cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting discussed cooperation mechanisms in several strategic areas, in particular the provision of integrated logistics services, construction of marine units and ferries, dredging and maintenance of docks, and other areas related to the development of marine infrastructure.

The Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority reflected on the successful cooperation experience to date with the Saudi side. A prime example is the authority’s Maritime Simulation and Training Academy, which modeled the Ras Al Khail port in preparation for the approach canal duplication project, which was widely praised by Saudi officials.

He also highlighted efforts to localize the maritime industry within the authority’s arsenal and companies, which has seen a remarkable boom in the past two years, and emphasized that Egyptian products offer international quality at competitive prices, issuing an official invitation to the Saudi delegation to visit the Suez Canal Authority’s pavilion at the IME2026 exhibition dedicated to maritime services and equipment.
