Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi met in Jeddah on Monday to discuss developments in the Middle East.

During an iftar dinner at Salam Palace, the two leaders discussed the close historical bilateral relations between the two countries and measures to develop relations in various fields. They also considered several issues related to the Arab and Islamic fields.

Egyptian Presidential Spokesperson Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy said Crown Prince Mohammed stressed to Mr Sisi the “centrality” of the relationship between the two countries and hoped to further enhance the relationship in the interests of the people.

Mr. Sisi pointed out that “fraternal relations between Egypt and Saudi Arabia are developing significantly,” and emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation in various fields.

The leaders discussed developments in the Gaza Strip and stressed the need for all parties to respect the ceasefire agreement and implement US President Donald Trump’s peace plan. They called for increased humanitarian aid to the enclave and unimpeded evacuations, El-Shennawy said.

They expressed their rejection of attempts to expel the Palestinian people, adding that the solution to the crisis lies in initiating an inclusive political process leading to the implementation of a two-state solution.

Prince Mohammed and Mr. Sisi also addressed several regional and international developments. Leaders emphasized the need to avoid escalating tensions in the region and support peaceful solutions through dialogue.

They called for strengthening Arab unity to face challenges, emphasizing respect for national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

El-Shennawy said the two countries agreed to maintain contact and strengthen consultations and political cooperation in order to maintain regional stability.

The meeting was also attended by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah. Dr. Musaed Al Aiban, Minister of State, Cabinet Secretary and National Security Adviser; Dr. Issam bin Saad bin Said, Minister of State and Cabinet Member for Shura Council. Khalid Al Humaidan, President of General Information.

Egyptian FM Badr Abdellatti, Intelligence Director Hassan Rashad and other officials were also present.

Sisi departed Jeddah late on Monday and was seen off by Crown Prince Mohammed.
